Pleural Masterclass on Malignant Pleural Effusion: What clinicians need to learn
Malignant pleural effusions herald incurable cancer. There has been a paradigm shift to prioritize patient-centred outcomes and focussing care on symptom control and improving quality of life (QoL). Clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals need to respond to this shift by understanding the latest research advances on why (and which) patients develop symptoms in malignant pleural effusion, their best care and available dedicated (including specific on-line) support resources for this patient group. Understanding these latest progress will improve quality of care and the patient journey.
